Awka—ANAMBRA State has surpassed its immunization target for 2016 by over two million, according to figures released, yesterday, by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Josephat Akabuike.
Details showed that while the target population for the state last year was 1,102,424 persons, it immunized 1,538,191 in February, 2016 and 1,552,579 persons in March 2016.
Akabuike, who was addressing reporters in Awka on the first round of national immunization for 2017, said the success story was that Anambra had not recorded any case of wild polio for more than 10 years, adding that the state had never failed to flag off the exercise which had encouraged mass awareness creation in all parts of the state.
