What is and Who is Born-again? (I)

A lot of people have misconstrued what is and who is born-again. Born-again is concerned with those that are sinners and ready to confess their sins and move closer to God. Jesus said in the Scripture John 3:1-5 “…. unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God…”

It inspires Jesus for someone to be born-again, no matter the level one is serving God. If a person is not prepared to be born-again, all is in vain. People that are ready to be born-again must confess all their sins and transgressions. Many people claim to born-again when the pastor invites those that want to be  born-again to come out for declaration and prayer.

All manners of people with questionable characters like armed robbers, fraudsters, murderers, adulterous people etc would come out to declare their intents to be born-again after repeating some words after the pastor.

Thereafter, the pastor pronounces them born-again and they call themselves born-again Christians. No; all these are false. Before somebody can claim to be born-again, there is need for the person to do some amendments.

This is buttressed in the Scripture. If these amendments are not done then the pronouncement and declarat-ion are just words of mouth. The Bible says in Numbers 5: 5-8 “… when a man or woman commits any sin that men commit in unfaithfulness against Lord and that person is guilty. Then he shall confess the sin which he has committed. He shall make restitution for his trespass in full plus one-fifth of it and give it to the one he has wronged….”.

Anybody that wants to be born-again must do total correction by returning what he stole to the owner. If a person killed somebody, he or she should go back to the victim’s family and confess his or her sin and continually doing good to the family. After this is done, then God  shall be ready to listen to the person and start doing good.

Then that person is regarded and called born-again. A person cannot be born-again when he or she still has in possession the stolen item(s) and believe that his or her confession and forsake of the sin would guarantee the person’s being born-again.

The person that still lives in the house built or rides a car with stolen money cannot be called a born-again.

Today many pastors and Christians are not saying the truth in the Bible. They only refer to Bible passages that are pleasant to them and people’s hearing. Imagine the Bible says in Ezekiel 33:14-15 “Again when I say to the wicked you shall surely die, if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right. If the wicked restores the pledge gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live he shall not die.”

Imagine a would-be born-again that killed the breadwinner of  a family, the wife, children  and the victim’s dependants have been subjected to pains and agony for life. After about five years the person that put the family into problem now wants to be born-again. He/she cannot be until he or she makes necessary corrections and endeavour to tow righteous path.                                                 Then the person could be regarded as born-again.
